Frequently Asked Questions
In order to make your session at RAM Studio as productive as possible, we've answered some of the most common questions below:
- What do I need to bring to the recording session?
You will need to bring your instrument, effects and cables. You can bring an amp if you would like, or use a house amplifier. There is a house kit available as well. You will need to bring hardware, cymbals and pedals. - Can you produce music or beats for me to play or sing to?
Our services are focused on capturing performances rather than creating the music. While some sounds or loops may be added to an existing song to supplement it, you will need to have the music to work with. - What is the first step in the recording process?
The first step in the process is generally to record scratch tracks. This will give the players a reference to play to as well as helping us become more familiar with the sounds and arrangements. - What is included in the service?
RAM Recording will include recording, mixing and mastering if desired and will provide prices for each upon inquiry based on the nature of the project. - Can you add effects or change the sounds after the recording?
Effects can be added for the most part. Sounds recorded with a dI (direct injection) can be shaped later and drums can generally be replaced, but it is generally a good idea to be happy with what you are recording before it is recorded as it generally goes smoother and produces a more natural sounding result. - How long does the mixing and mastering process take?
This varies due to the nature of the material and business. Deadlines should be discussed at the beginning of the recording - Are the stems available to me after recording?
Stems can be provided upon request. There may be a processing fee. - Can you record live as a band as opposed to one track at a time?
You may record live as a band. There are certain limitations involved, but can yield good results.
